VOX Space Participates in USAF Advanced Battle Mgmt System Test; Mandy Vaughn Quoted

Virgin Orbit's VOX Space subsidiary demonstrated a responsive space launch approach during a second field test of the U.S. Air Force's Advanced Battle Management System earlier this month.

VOX Space said it simulated the release of the company-built LauncherOne rocket for the ABMS exercise where the military branch tested digital infrastructure designed to help joint forces gather, analyze, and exchange data in real time.

Cosmic Girl, a Virgin Orbit carrier plane derived from the Boeing 747-400, brought the rocket to a USAF-specified dropsite to facilitate the launch simulation activity.

Mandy Vaughn, president of VOX Space, said the event also reflected the U.S. Space Force's commitment to work with the commercial sector in efforts to modernize space technology.

"Our team is excited to lend a hand in helping to keep people safe back on Earth, even as the space domain up above grows ever more contested," Vaughn added.

The Air Force noted it will allocate $3.3B for the ABMS program over five years as part of the branch's Joint All-Domain Command and Control framework.
