State Dept OKs $170M Raytheon Air-to-Air Missile Sale to Norway

The State Department has approved Norway’s request to buy Raytheon-built (NYSE: RTN) AIM-120 C-7 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles under a potential $170 million foreign military sales agreement.

Raytheon’s missile systems business unit will serve as prime contractor of the proposed sale that covers 60 AMRAAMs and associated equipment; publications and technical documentation; training support and equipment; and other logistics and program support services, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Wednesday.

Norway placed the order in an effort to help the country’s air force defend against national security threats and support NATO operations.

DSCA expects the FMS transaction to increase Norway’s mutual defense, regional security, force modernization and interoperability with U.S. and NATO forces.

The proposed sale will not require the deployment of additional U.S. government or contractor representatives to Norway.
