Northrop Gets $200M Air Force Order for Large Aircraft IR Countermeasure Systems, Support Services

The U.S. Air Force has placed a $200M order under an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) to procure Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasure systems and related support

LAIRCM is designed to help airmen detect, track and jam IR airborne threats, Northrop said Monday.

The company received a $3.6B IDIQ contract last year to deliver equipment and support program management, logistics, engineering and sustainment efforts under the service branch’s LAIRCM program.

œWith this award, we continue to protect U.S. and international partner aircrews from the threat of infrared guided weapons, said Bob Gough, vice president of land and avionics C4ISR at Northrop.

Globally, more than 1,500 aircraft are equipped with Northrop-built IR countermeasures.
