Maxar Technologies (NYSE: MAXR) has secured a potential 10-year, $3.24 billion contract to provide commercial satellite imagery to the National Reconnaissance Office in support of U.S. defense and intelligence community missions.
The Electro-Optical Commercial Layer contract is intended to help NRO continue to meet imagery acquisition requirements the EnhancedView Follow-On program is currently addressing, the company said Wednesday.
Maxar reported in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing the new award has a $1.5 billion base value over five years, plus $1.74 billion in options, and the company will continue to carry out other services under the EVFO contract until 2024.
The scope of the EOCL contract includes shortwave infrared, nighttime imaging, theater direct downlink, non-Earth imaging and foundation, intelligence area and points collection services.
