Lockheed Martin Lands $96M Contract to Update Air Force GPS Control Segment

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has received a $96.04 million contract modification to modify the control segment of the U.S. Air Force™s global positioning system.

The control segment works to operate all launched GPS III satellites before they migrate to the new operational control system, the Defense Department said Thursday.

Lockheed will deliver operations services and supplies for the existing GPS control segment and provide satellite vehicle simulation modules, GPS simulator and GPS positional training emulator updates.

The company will perform work in Colorado and Maryland through Dec. 31, 2019.

GPS III is designed to provide anti-jam capabilities for system security and reliability.
