Steve Kastin, formerly chief healthcare information technology strategist for the Department of Veterans Affairs national office of information and technology, has joined Clarendon, Virginia-based contractor By Light Professional IT Services as chief medical officer and healthcare IT strategist.
He will apply his background in healthcare informatics and healthcare IT to his new role at By Light, the company said Tuesday.
“Dr. Kastins role will be to provide By Light with keen insight into clinical IT needs and processes from a healthcare providers perspective, ” said Lucy Donahue, By Light senior vice president for federal healthcare.
Kastin previously held other leadership roles at VA such as director of diagnostic services at the Bronx Medical Center, chief health informatics officer and chief information officer for the New York/New Jersey Healthcare Network, chair of the radiology informatics committee and member of the informatics and data management committee.
