Army Awards Five Spots on $838M Soldier Protection System Dev’t Contract

Five companies have won spots on a potential nine-year, $837.6M contract from the U.S. Army to supply personal protective equipment designed to help protect warfighters against ballistic threats.

Army Contracting Command received 11 bids for the Soldier Protection System procurement vehicle and expects contract work to conclude by Dec. 14, 2029, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.

SPS intended to have a modular design, offer ballistic protection to military users and lighter than current PPE offerings, according to the Army. The gear will consist of an integrated head protection system, torso and extremity components and lightweight ballistic inserts.

The awardees are:

• Bethel Industries
• Carter Enterprises
• Central Lake Armor Express
• Point Blank Enterprises
• Slate Solutions
