ALATEC Eyes IT Services Expansion Through USi Purchase, Changes Name to Ignite

ALATEC has purchased Huntsville, Alabama-based information technology services provider USi for an undisclosed sum in an effort to expand its IT offerings for federal government and commercial clients.

ALATEC, a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business in Huntsville, has also changed its name to Ignite as part of its corporate rebranding efforts, ALATEC said Thursday.

Jason Shelton will lead Ignite as president and CEO, while Brandon Umphrey and Clayton Hinchman will serve as Ignite vice president and chief operating officer, respectively.

Shelton said Ignite will work to leverage and extend the business model that USi adopted in the education IT market to its other offerings.

Hinchman said the acquisition would allow Ignite to provide simulation and modeling, training, cyber and other technology services to USi clients.

The renamed company will continue to operate as an employee-owned firm and will run USi as a wholly owned subsidiary.

USi is a SDVOSB that provides software and systems engineering, business platforms and other IT services for clients in the education, government and commercial markets.
