The Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration has awarded The Aerospace Corp. a master indefinite-delivery/indefinite-delivery contract worth $250 million and two task orders to provide system engineering and integration support for NNSA’s Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation, or DNN, and Office of Defense Programs, or DP.
According to a limited source justification notice posted Monday, the DP task order award is valued at approximately $146.7 million and the other task order in support of DNN is worth about $82.5 million.
NNSA conducted market research for the follow-on contract and found that Aerospace remained the sole contractor with the relevant work history to provide the required systems engineering and integration support for its DNN and DP offices.
The agency’s Office of Defense Programs helps maintain and modernize the nuclear stockpile through the Stockpile Stewardship and Management Program. DNN works globally to prevent state and non-state actors from developing nuclear weapons or acquiring weapons-usable nuclear or radiological equipment, materials, technology and expertise.
Follow-On System Engineering & Integration Support Contract
In addition to system engineering and integration, the recompete IDIQ contract also covers independent technical and programmatic analysis; system design, architecture development, integration and assessment; decision support, integration and dissemination of industry best practices.
Under the system design and architecture development task area, services include mission readiness; sustainment; concept development and prototyping; counterterrorism and counterproliferation; nuclear threat science and nuclear forensics; and weapon system integration support.
The vendor will also be required to establish and maintain a quality assurance and surveillance system.
