Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has received a $286 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to produce and deliver one E-2D Advanced Hawkeye airborne early warning and control aircraft to Japan.
The Defense Departmentsaid Wednesday that Northrop will also provide E-2D nonrecurring engineering assistance to the Japanese military through DoD’s foreign military sales program.
E-2D is a carrier-based aircraft designed with multiple sensor, command-and-control and defense weapon systems for airmen to gain situational awareness during tactical missions.
Northrop’s military aircraft systems unit will perform work at a facility in Melbourne, Florida, and other various U.S.-based company sites through September 2019.
The Naval Air Systems Command manages the contract and will use FMS funds to cover the full obligated amount.
