Harris Corporation has announced that it has donated the OS/COMET® Telemetry, Tracking and Command (TT&C) software to the FLTSATCOM lab of the Navy Postgraduate School (NPS).
OS/COMET is a commercial software tool offering enhanced TT&C capabilities for military, intelligence and commercial satellite constellations. OS/COMET was donated to the Naval Postgraduate School to support studies involving hardware-in-the-loop, partial-simulation or full-simulation satellite operation exercises.
“OS/COMET provides us an extensible software ground control system that supports our academic environment for the development and use of both commercial-off-the-shelf and custom software in a single product, ” said Michael Doherty, PE, Aerospace Engineer, Naval Postgraduate School. “Since OS/COMET is used to operate more active satellites than any other product on the market, incorporating it into the FLTSATCOM lab gives our post-grads real-world experience with actual spaceflight and ground control software.”
Harris donated similar technology to the US Air Force Academy in April 2007 in support of the school’s training missions.
