Hagel announced the deal while in Indonesia as part of a four-nation tour in Asia, Pellerin reports.
“The strong and enduring security partnership that has been built between the United States and Indonesia is a relationship the United States greatly values, ” Hagel added.
Both countries’ military forces have jointly launched a collaborative defense planning development program and plan to organize joint counterterrorism drills in Southeast Asia next month, AFPS reports.
Hagel noted President Barack Obama intends to visit Indonesia this October.
