Alenia Aermacchi is responsible for the Joint Strike Fighter program’s second wing production line, Finmeccanica said Thursday.
The contract also includes $60 million, covering non-recurring activities for production tools.
Alenia will build the parts for the jet’s central fuselage, wing and wing box.
In March, the U.S. Defense Department announced an estimated $333.7 million contract to Lockheed for F-35 long lead-time parts, materials and components.
That contract is intended to cover 35 jets, with four planes set for the U.K. and two for Norway.
