NexTech Solutions Acquires Maryland Tactical Network Firm Halcyon Days Consulting

  • Deal adds more than 90 staff to NexTech
  • Halcyon Days networks run on TAK and already use NexTech video software
  • Sixth NexTech acquisition since its 2023 Clairvest investment

NexTech Solutions has acquired Halcyon Days Consulting, a Maryland company whose tactical networks serve U.S. and allied forces.

What Does NexTech Gain From the Halcyon Days Consulting Acquisition?

NexTech said Monday the purchase brings more than 90 employees, among them engineers, operators and mission specialists. Halcyon Days also develops operational software and provides security and integration work.

Its networks run on the Team Awareness Kit, a tactical command and control framework. Video already flows into them through VidTerra COMPASS, a NexTech product for moving full-motion video. NexTech’s provisioning software, MANTLE, is meant to cut the time needed to set up a ready-to-use Team Awareness Kit environment from weeks to hours.

NexTech said demand for tactical networking is coming from the departments of War and State and allied partners. Forces use the networks in places including Eastern Europe and the Pacific. The company put current use at roughly 20,000 users and more than 15,000 managed devices across two active theaters.

What Did NexTech and Halcyon Days Leaders Say About the Acquisition?

Joseph Paull, CEO of NexTech Solutions, said Halcyon Days “built and continuously refined a tactical networking capability under fire.”

“Adding their team, their technology, and that hard-won operational insight to NTS gives our customers direct access to networks that have already been tested where it matters most. There is no substitute for that kind of validation,” explained Paull.

Kyle Miracle, CEO of Halcyon Days, said, “The NTS/HDC team will move faster from mission requirement to fielded capability, and all of our customers will benefit from a combined networking stack that has been proven in the toughest possible conditions.”

What Other Companies Has NexTech Solutions Acquired?

The deal is NexTech’s sixth since a 2023 investment by Clairvest, a Toronto private equity firm. Nomad Solutions, bought in September 2024, gave NexTech a Virginia presence and a focus on federal civilian agencies. Vidterra, acquired in January, added software for handling video and sensor feeds in disconnected settings with limited size, weight and power.
