Horizon3 has appointed Chad Keefer as vice president of federal sales, putting him in charge of the company’s approach to civilian, defense and intelligence community customers.
Keefer will build the sales organization, processes and partner relationships behind adoption of the NodeZero autonomous penetration testing platform, the company said Tuesday.
What Experience Does Chad Keefer Bring?
Keefer joins from Infoblox, where he served as head of U.S. federal. He brings 24 years of federal go-to-market leadership.
He previously held vice president roles at Appian covering federal civilian and enterprise financial markets, and spent a decade at Forescout Technologies, rising from sales director to vice president of the federal civilian business unit before leading sales spanning public sector, financial services, healthcare, energy and strategic enterprise accounts.
Earlier, Keefer led federal security sales teams at IBM’s BigFix unit and at ArcSight, covering both defense and civilian agency programs. He served as a Marine Corps platoon leader before entering the technology industry.
Matt Hartley, chief revenue officer at Horizon3, said Keefer brings an operator’s instinct for aligning the company’s technology with government missions as agencies work to operationalize continuous monitoring and cyber readiness requirements.
Keefer said his aim is to establish continuous security validation as an operational standard, shifting agencies from believing their controls work to proving they do.
What Is NodeZero Federal?
NodeZero Federal received a High authorization under the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program in 2025. The platform runs autonomous penetration tests in production environments, covering internal networks, Active Directory, segmentation, phishing exposure and insider threat scenarios.
Horizon3 markets the platform against National Institute of Standards and Technology Special Publication 800-53, zero trust mandates, Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation program requirements and the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification 2.0 framework.
The company serves as the offensive security engine behind the National Security Agency’s Continuous Autonomous Penetration Testing program, which gives defense industrial base suppliers a way to test their defenses.
