Systems Planning & Analysis has appointed Robert Richards, the former chief financial officer of BlueHalo, to its board of directors.
The company, which provides data-driven analytical support for national security programs, announced the appointment on Wednesday. Richards joins the board as SPA works to grow its technology-enabled capabilities across defense missions.
Who Is Robert Richards?
Richards spent close to 15 years in the C-suites of defense technology organizations, and the companies he helped grow ultimately returned more than $5 billion in enterprise value to their investors. Throughout his career, he played a key role in completing more than 20 buy-side acquisitions, three company sales and over a dozen financing transactions.
He most recently served as CFO of BlueHalo, where he integrated 14 acquired companies and remained through its sale to AeroVironment.
He held the same title earlier at Centauri, which performed six acquisitions and posted strong organic growth during his tenure before KBR bought it.
Richards was previously CFO of National Technologies Associates. He earned a master’s degree in finance from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.
How Did SPA Leadership React to Richards’ Appointment?
SPA CEO Rich Sawchak said Richards has helped build some of the defense industry’s most successful growth stories and called his experience an asset to the board and leadership team.
“SPA has built an outstanding reputation for technical excellence and mission impact. I am honored to join the board and support the company’s continued growth,” Richards said.
