SAIC has appointed John Wagner, an enterprise leader and program management professional, as senior vice president of enterprise growth for its Air Force, space and intelligence business group.

As SAIC expands its focus on Air Force, intelligence and space opportunities, industry leaders are also looking ahead to the technologies shaping the future of air and space domains. In a LinkedIn post published Friday, the company said Wagner brings more than 30 years of leadership experience across the defense, space and intelligence sectors.

SAIC said Wagner’s expertise in strategic growth, mission integration and customer engagement, combined with his government and industry experience, will help advance opportunities that support critical national security missions.

How Does the Appointment Align With SAIC’s Air Force Growth Efforts?

Wagner’s appointment comes as SAIC continues to support U.S. Air Force modernization efforts.

The Air Force recently awarded SAIC a leading position on a potential $192 million contract to help develop the digital infrastructure for the service’s Advanced Battle Management System, or ABMS.

Work under the ABMS Digital Infrastructure Network Developer multiple-award contract will focus on advancing the Department of the Air Force Battle Network and accelerating the implementation of the Department of War’s Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control infrastructure.

Who Is John Wagner?

Wagner is a project management professional who most recently served as VP of strategy and business development at Sierra Space, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He also held national security space leadership roles at RTX Technologies subsidiary Raytheon and Sierra Nevada Corp.

The former Strategy and Statecraft Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies also served as CSAF Chair and associate professor at National Defense University.

Earlier in his career, Wagner held leadership positions in the Air Force, including wing commander of the 460th Space Wing; operations group commander for the Joint Space Operations Center and 614th Air and Space Operations Center; and strategist and deputy chief for Iran, Middle East political-military affairs within the Joint Staff.
