BAE Systems Adds Former Collins Aerospace CDO Mona Bates to Executive Leadership Team

BAE Systems has named Mona Bates as its new senior vice president and chief information and digital officer, effective Feb. 23, 2026. She will oversee the company’s enterprise technology and digital strategy and lead its IT organization, BAE Systems said Thursday.

She will report to BAE Systems President and CEO Tom Arseneault, a four-time Wash100 awardee.

“Mona’s vision along with her deep technical and business expertise make her the right leader to help position our company for long-term success,” Arseneault commented. “She will play a key role in shaping the company’s digital transformation agenda by aligning technology investments with evolving business needs. By championing a culture of delivery excellence and leveraging emerging technologies like [artificial intelligence] and advanced analytics, she will work to unlock new capabilities for our company and for our customers.”

Who Is Mona Bates?

Bates brings over two decades of IT and business experience across government and industry. Before joining BAE Systems, she spent 15 years with RTX and its legacy Raytheon businesses, most recently serving as chief digital officer for Collins Aerospace.

At Collins, she led global digital transformation initiatives focused on integrating digital capabilities with business strategy to drive operational performance and long-term growth.

She previously held the roles of vice president of digital technology and chief information officer at Raytheon Missiles & Defense.

Earlier in her career, she served in leadership roles at aerospace and defense engineering firm Boecore and Verizon Business.

Bates holds a bachelor’s degree in computer networking from Regis University and an MBA in IT management from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.
