Navy Awards BAE Systems $256M USS Iwo Jima FY26 Maintenance Contract

The U.S. Navy has awarded BAE Systems Maritime Solutions a firm-fixed-price contract valued at up to $255.9 million for fiscal year 2026 USS Iwo Jima selected restricted availability.

The award, issued by Naval Sea Systems Command, covers work required “to prepare for and accomplish the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Availability for critical modernization, maintenance, and repair programs,” the service branch stated in an award notice posted on SAM.gov Thursday.

What Work Will BAE Systems Perform Under the USS Iwo Jima FY26 SRA?

BAE Systems will provide all labor, supervision, equipment, production support, testing, facilities and quality assurance services necessary to sustain the ship’s operational readiness. The effort includes ship alterations and system upgrades aligned with the Navy’s long-term sustainment plans.

The base contract is valued at $204.2 million. It was competitively procured through full and open competition using the Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment.

What Prior Work Has BAE Systems Performed on USS Iwo Jima?

BAE Systems has previously performed maintenance work on USS Iwo Jima. In 2015, the Navy awarded the company a $26.8 million firm-fixed-price contract to conduct phased maintenance on the amphibious assault ship, including repairs, system upgrades and habitability improvements.
