Ignacio “Iggy” Alvarez Elevated to Executive Vice President & General Manager, Air Force at Astrion

Ignacio “Iggy” Alvarez has been promoted to executive vice president and general manager, Air Force at Astrion.

The Huntsville, Alabama-based company said Wednesday Alvarez will be responsible for its Air Force business, guiding initiatives that advance the service’s operational needs and modernization goals.

“Iggy brings deep operational insight, technical expertise, and a warfighter’s perspective to everything he does,” said Dave Zolet, CEO of Astrion and a five-time Wash100 Award winner. “His leadership, integrity, and dedication to our people and our customers make him the right choice to lead our Air Force portfolio.”

What Is Ignacio Alvarez’s Professional Background?

Alvarez brings over 20 years of leadership experience spanning both military service and industry. He most recently served as senior director after joining the company in 2022 as portfolio manager. Prior to his promotion, he led the company’s Air Force portfolio spanning command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or C5ISR, cyber operations, fixed- and rotary-wing aviation, test and evaluation, and research and development. He spent over 13 years at Jacobs, holding multiple leadership roles, including business development principal, senior director and program manager.

What Roles Did Alvarez Hold During His Air Force Career?

Alvarez spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force before transitioning to the private sector. During his service, he served as chief of the secretary of the air force communications and information programs integration branch. He also held a range of operational and leadership positions, including detachment commander, squadron commander, group deputy commander and chief of a major Air Force network operations and security center.
