According to the award notice published Wednesday on SAM.gov, Saab was awarded the contract on Sept. 29 to deliver the SRM 4, which will replace the aging ASDE-3 SMR, currently in use. The award aims to enhance Air Traffic Control’s situational awareness and reduce runway incursions.
Based on the solicitation notice, the contract covers various services, including program management, systems engineering, system test and evaluation, implementation, training, delivery, installation, integrated logistics support and operational support for 34 SMR4 systems and an option for 19 additional units.
The contract employs a hybrid structure, including firm-fixed-price, time and materials, cost-plus-fixed-fee, cost-reimbursement, and task and delivery orders. It has a three-year base period, a six-year option, and a five-year option. If all options are exercised, its value will total $267.3 million.
