NASA Soliciting Proposals for CSDA Contract Ramp 2

NASA is seeking companies that can provide commercial Earth observation data and related services.

The agency issued an official request for proposals on Tuesday for Ramp 2 of the Commercial SmallSat Data Acquisition, or CSDA, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, multiple-award contract.

The CSDA has an on-ramp option that enables NASA to periodically reopen the original proposal solicitation for new vendors and new data products. The first CSDA contract was awarded in October 2023. The On-Ramp 1 contract, meanwhile, was awarded in September 2023.

The ordering period of any on-ramp contracts is from the day of award through Nov. 15, 2028.

What NASA Needs

For Ramp 3 of the CSDA, NASA intends to procure one or more data sets, information products and associated metadata generated by Earth orbiting small satellites. The commercial data will augment or complement Earth observations that NASA and other government agencies and international partners already use.

The acquisition supports the NASA Science Mission Directorate, Earth Sciences Division. The space agency will give preference to data with higher resolutions, increased temporal frequency and other novel features.

Interested parties may submit their proposals until 2:00 p.m. Eastern time on Aug. 18.
