GovCon Expert McAleese Offers Analysis of 3-Month CR

A new McAleese & Associates report shows that a continuing resolution, or CR, that will fund federal government operations through March 14 includes $110 billion in funding for disaster relief efforts.

Jim McAleese, founder of McAleese & Associates and a three-time Wash100 winner, said 31 percent of the total disaster supplemental budget will go to the Department of Agriculture and 28 percent of the funding will head to the Department of Homeland Security.

According to McAleese, approximately $5.1 billion, or 5 percent of the disaster supplemental appropriations, is allocated for the Department of Defense and military construction efforts.

In addition to the disaster relief funding, the CR includes provisions that will extend several agricultural programs and provide funding for public health initiatives, Medicare and Medicaid programs.

The GovCon Expert also cited in the report primary CR anomalies and the Congressional Budget Office’s cost estimates.

According to the report, President Joe Biden signed the stopgap spending measure on Dec. 21, hours after Congress passed it. The Senate cleared the legislation in an 85-11 vote, while the House voted 366-35 to pass the CR.
