The U.S. Navy has awarded Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) a potential $3.9 billion contract to provide training systems and design, develop, integrate and test simulation platforms for the F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft.
The Department of Defense said Wednesday work on the sole-source, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract will occur in Orlando, Florida, Fort Worth, Texas and other locations within and outside the continental U.S. through September 2028.
The contract covers simulation system deployment, upgrades and sustainment support for the F-35 jets of the Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, non-DOD participants and foreign military sales countries.
