The company said in a LinkedIn announcement Monday that Smith brings to HDUSA more than two decades of experience in the aerospace and defense sector and will replace outgoing CEO John Kelly.
Smith previously held senior leadership role at Lockheed, HII (NYSE: HII) and BAE Systems, and served on several corporate boards. He also has experience in working across the Department of Defense and the defense industrial base.
“I see a tremendous opportunity for HDUSA to expand its role as a critical member of the U.S. defense industrial base,” said Smith. “Hanwha not only brings proven platforms and technologies, it also brings demonstrated process maturity that has been successfully deployed across a multitude of products and markets.”
HDUSA is a subsidiary of Hanwha Aerospace working to expand its global business and position itself as a provider of defense offerings focused on crewed and uncrewed air, ground, sea and space systems.
