Canada asked to buy 16 P-8A aircraft and 111 items such as joint tactical radios, GPS navigation systems and guardian laser transmitter assemblies, the Defense Security Cooperation said Tuesday.
The request includes aircraft spares, operational support systems, training devices, engineering and logistics technical assistance and program support.
Boeing will be the principal contractor on the proposed FMS deal and other U.S. Navy contractors will provide components, systems and engineering services.
The Canadian government plans to use the aircraft to boost its maritime interoperability with U.S. and allied forces.
