SCO Director Jay Dryer to Headline Fall 2021 5G Summit for Potomac Officers Club

The head of the Department of Defense’s Strategic Capabilities Office will keynote a Sept. 16 virtual forum hosted by the Potomac Officers Club to kick off a half-day event about ongoing government and industry efforts to develop fifth-generation wireless communications technologies.

Jay Dryer was appointed to the SCO director post in January 2020 and leads the Pentagon office responsible for bringing game-changing systems intended to give the U.S. military an advantage over emerging threats across all domains.

DOD initially awarded $600 million in contracts to 15 companies in October of last year to build and demonstrate 5G technologies at five domestic military installations. The department announced the completion of a $90 million prototype network to support warehouse operations in June under the 5G-to-Next G Initiative managed by the DOD Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering.

Dryer will be the first keynote speaker for POC’s Fall 2021 5G Summit and his address will be followed by other executives to discuss the journey towards implementation of the next-generation cellular technology.
