A Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) subsidiary has received a potential $194.7 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to engineer, integrate and test an aircraft interface module to help with the planned modernization of the F-35 Lot 17 fighter jet with a next generation electronic warfare system.
The Department of Defense said Monday Lockheed Martin Aeronautics will conduct engineering, integration and testing work in support of the ASQ-239 EW countermeasures system updates for the aircraft.
Seventy-five percent of the work will be performed in Nashua, New Hampshire, while the remaining 25 percent will be done in Fort Worth, Texas. The expected completion date is April 2024.
The F-35 Lot 17 aircraft with enhanced EW system will be delivered to the Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy and non-Department of Defense participants.
Lockheed Martin Aeronautics will receive $7 million from the fiscal 2021 research, development, test and evaluation funds of USAF and Navy at the time of award.
