Over 30 CEOs in the GovCon industry responded to a call to participate in the Department of Labor’s veteran apprenticeship pilot program that seeks to provide civilian career opportunities for transitioning service members.
Some of the companies that joined Serco and General Dynamics Information Technology in offering apprenticeship opportunities to military retirees are Siemens, VTG and LexisNexis Risk Solutions.Amy Gilliland, president of General Dynamics’ (NYSE: GD) information technology business and a 2021 Wash100 Award recipient, committed to hiring 15 veteran apprentices through the program.

The DOL pilot program offers apprenticeship across 16 career fields and provides paid on-the-job training to allow veterans to apply the leadership and technical skills they acquired during their military career to help meet civilian workplace needs.
