General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) C4 systems business unit has won a potential $64.5 million contract to add capabilities to the wideband network waveform, which provides the bandwidth necessary to move large amounts of data through the military’s tactical network.
The company will provide software support and maintenance to improve WNW’s reliability and performance. Planned enhancements include increased scalability and throughput, adding capability for commanders on-the-move.
WNW is part of the joint tactical radio system.
The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center awarded GDC4S the five-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity Wideband Networking Waveform Software In-Service Support contract.
“The wideband networking waveform does the heavy lifting needed to quickly and efficiently move large amounts of data from the core of the network to the tactical edge, ” said Chris Brady, vice president of assured communications for General Dynamics C4 Systems. “The work done by General Dynamics will ensure this waveform remains effective and relevant today and into the future, regardless of which radio or communications device is using it.”
