Raytheon Technologies Completes Blue Canyon Buy; Roy Azevedo Quoted

Raytheon Technologies (NYSE: RTX) has closed its acquisition of small satellites provider Blue Canyon Technologies and will now integrate BCT into its intelligence and space business.

Roy Azevedo, president of Raytheon Intelligence and Space and a 2020 Wash100 Award winner, said in a statement published Monday the acquisition of Blue Canyon will further the company’s ability to accelerate the delivery of capabilities across satellite orbits and classes.

Founded in 2008, Blue Canyon Technologies is headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, and operates with more than 200 employees. The company is currently producing more than 90 satellites and has supported missions of NASA, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the U.S. Air Force.

Blue Canyon said it will continue to support its client base under its current brand and business name through its Colorado facilities in Lafayette and Boulder.

Raytheon Technologies initially announced the transaction in early November as part of efforts to broaden its platforms in support of customers’ space missions.
