BigBear.ai has booked more than $225 million in federal contract awards since July, adding the FBI and Coast Guard as customers while retaining its work with Customs and Border Protection.
The McLean, Virginia, company said Tuesday the awards cover homeland security, defense, intelligence and federal civilian customers and include both new work and recompetes. CEO Kevin McAleenan, a three-time Wash100 Award winner, said the wins demonstrate a strong foundation and a growing customer base.

Border technology and DHS modernization priorities will be featured at the Potomac Officers Club’s 2026 Homeland Security Summit on Nov. 10 at the Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner in McLean, Virginia. What Did the Generative AI Awards Cover?
BigBear.ai won more than 25 generative AI awards, naming the FBI, NASA, the Coast Guard, the Department of Energy and the Department of Veterans Affairs among the customers. Its generative AI platforms are designed to provide agency users with multi-model AI and agentic capabilities, offering vendor-agnostic cloud deployment options for both disconnected and air-gapped environments.
In July, the company announced it expanded its platform for Department of War customers, retiring the Ask Sage brand it acquired in a roughly $250 million deal completed in January. That overhaul added a local device that supports deployments up to the Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information level and a procurement path that lets agencies license the platform separately from model access.
What Work Did BigBear.ai Retain at CBP?
BigBear.ai won two Customs and Border Protection recompetes, partnering with SAIC on one and Unissant on the other. The company stated that the awards extend its ongoing support for cross-border passenger and freight operations.
In September, SAIC announced a $742 million CBP recompete task order covering systems that assess security risks posed by travelers and cargo, running through September 2031 under the General Services Administration’s Alliant 2 vehicle. SAIC separately took a five-year, $199 million recompete for CBP’s Integrated Traveler Initiatives 2.1 program. BigBear.ai did not identify which task orders its CBP wins fall under.
McAleenan led CBP as commissioner before serving as acting secretary of homeland security. He founded Pangiam, which BigBear.ai acquired in 2024.
What Other Customers Did BigBear.ai Add?
New contracts cover combatant commands, including U.S. Central Command and U.S. Southern Command, as well as classified intelligence community work. The company did not give values for any individual award.
