BAE Unit Lands Potential $97M Contract to Modernize USS Cole Destroyer Ship

BAE Systems‘ Norfolk Ship Repair business has secured a potential $96.7 million contract to help the U.S. Navy implement extended dry-docking selected restricted availability efforts for an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer.

The contractor will provide facilities and personnel required to maintain, repair and modernize the USS Cole (DDG 67) ship, the Defense Department said Friday.

Work will take place in Norfolk, Va., through July 2019.

The Naval Sea Systems Command received one response for the firm-fixed-price contract via a full and open competition on FedBizOpps.

DoD noted the service branch will obligate $36.6 million in fiscal 2018 operations and maintenance and “other” procurement funds to cover the contract’s base period of performance.
