Defense technology company Shield AI has acquired Crowdbotics’ Data Driven Readiness, or DDR, software tools for an undisclosed sum to expand its capability to deliver end-to-end artificial intelligence-enabled defense autonomy platforms to customers.
Integrating DDR With Shield AI’s Hivemind Autonomy Stack
Shield AI said Tuesday it will integrate DDR with its Hivemind autonomy stack to assess autonomy performance and speed up the qualification process.
“Building trust between human pilots and AI pilots is essential for embracing advanced autonomy and concepts such as manned-unmanned teaming, or MUM-T,” said Christian Gutierrez, vice president of Hivemind solutions at Shield AI.
“Hivemind Pilots generate substantial amounts of flight data, and integrating DDR will strengthen Hivemind’s autonomy debrief capabilities —improving how users prepare for, execute, and learn from each mission. This is a powerful addition that accelerates our vision of delivering turnkey autonomy: solutions that are performant, adaptable, and trusted to meet the evolving needs of our customers,” added Gutierrez.
What Does DDR Do?
DDR is a software analytics platform designed to help fighter pilots rapidly analyze their performance by collecting, processing and visualizing flight data to assess their proficiency for post-mission debriefs.
As a result of the transaction, some key members of the DDR team will join Shield AI. One of them is Julian Capps, formerly managing director of defense at Crowdbotics.
“We’re excited to see the DDR technology, which is best in class for analyzing flight data and pilot proficiency, join forces with the Shield AI platform to further their mission in delivering advanced autonomous defense solutions,” said Capps.
