KBR has won a U.S. Air Force contract worth approximately $176 million to provide equipment maintenance and operations support for space domain awareness technologies at the Air Force Maui Optical and Supercomputing Site, or AMOS, in Hawaii.
The Department of Defense said Thursday the Air Force Research Laboratory, or AFRL, launched a competitive acquisition and received two offers for the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.
AFRL is obligating $254,178 in research, development, test and evaluation funds for fiscal year 2025 and expects work to occur in Maui, Hawaii, through April 15, 2032.
IDIQ Contract Scope
According to DOD, the IDIQ contract also includes site modernization and recapitalization support for existing space domain awareness capabilities at the site.
In April 2022, AFRL released a request for proposals for the Advanced Space Technology Research and Optimization, or ASTRO, acquisition program, which seeks to provide equipment maintenance support at AMOS.
According to the RFP, the ASTRO contract includes the implementation of innovative ways to perform long-term operations and conduct maintenance and sustainment of site assets, including the facility’s Advanced Electro Optical System, Raven telescopes, weather equipment, mission-associated hardware and software and small systems.
