Florida-based L3Harris Technologies has acquired REDCOM Laboratories’ Sigma C2 software and Sigma XRI hardware for an undisclosed sum as part of efforts to support select command, control, computers, communications, cyber, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or C5ISR, systems.
The New York-based tactical communications systems provider said Monday the transaction includes more than 125 REDCOM Sigma XRI-400 radio over internet protocol, or RoIP, platforms and Sigma C2 software instances.
According to REDCOM, the Mobile Communication System, or MCS, will deliver Sigma C2 and other command and control platforms for command posts, tactical operations centers and communications notes in support of military modernization efforts.
“REDCOM has a proven history of working on communications modernization projects and successful deployments in the U.S. Army’s PEO C3N, and now the MSC,” said Michael Scaravillo, business development manager at REDCOM.
“Seeing our solutions bridge the technical gaps from analog to IP is exciting; it demonstrates how well Sigma C2 Software and REDCOM can interoperate with existing systems without the need to rip and replace existing hardware,” Scaravillo added.
What Does REDCOM Sigma Software Do?
REDCOM Sigma is a software-based C2 platform with voice, video, chat and conferencing capabilities. It also provides call and session control functionality and enhances the warfighter’s operational flexibility.
The U.S. Army’s Program Executive Office Command, Control Communications-Network, or PEO C3N, selected the open standards-based REDCOM Sigma platform for network modernization at the tactical edge.
What Is REDCOM Sigma XRI?
Sigma XRI is a small-form-factor C2 communications platform that expands the communications ecosystem and enhances the flow of information during joint force operations by bridging the gap between disparate radio systems and SIP endpoints used by military units, public safety organizations and government agencies.
