Lt. Gen. Paul Stanton on Friday officially assumed the role of director of the Defense Information Systems Agency and commander of the Joint Force Headquarters-Department of Defense Information Network, or JFHQ-DODIN, DISA reported.
He succeeded Air Force Lt. Gen. Robert Skinner, who took the helm at DISA and JFHQ-DODIN in 2021.
During the ceremonial passing of the flags, Stanton highlighted the need to “get the right data to the right place at the right time” to facilitate the decision-making process, keep ahead of adversaries and better support warfighters.
The Army lieutenant general most recently served as commanding general of the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence at Fort Eisenhower in Georgia.
Prior to this role, Stanton was deputy commanding general for operations within Army Cyber Command.
In June, President Joe Biden nominated Stanton to lead DISA and JFHQ-DODIN.
In addition to Skinner, the ceremony was attended by Air Force Gen. Timothy Haugh, commander of U.S. Cyber Command and director of the National Security Agency, and Leslie Beavers, acting chief information officer at the Department of Defense.
