An RTX (NYSE: RTX) business has received a U.S. Navy contract worth $192 million for an advanced electronic attack system designed to deny, disrupt and degrade enemy technology.
The Department of Defense said Friday Raytheon will design, develop, manufacture, integrate, demonstrate and test the Next Generation Jammer Mid-Band extended capability modification under the cost-plus-incentive-fee contract.
The delivery of the system to the Navy and the government of Australia is aimed at expanding frequency coverage to address additional threats within the NGJ-MB operational environment.
The system is designed to provide E/A-18 Growler pilots with capabilities to attack multiple targets simultaneously. It has agile, active electronically scanned arrays, all-digital back end and advanced jamming techniques.
Raytheon will perform contract work in Dallas, Texas; Forest, Mississippi; El Segundo, California; and Fort Wayne, Indiana. Efforts will run through December 2027.
The Navy will use its fiscal 2024 research, development, test and evaluation funds and Royal Australian Air Force cooperative funds for the contract.
Naval Air Systems Command serves as the contracting activity.
