State Department Clears $605M Air-to-Air Missile Sale to Sweden

The State Department has cleared Sweden’s request to procure advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles, manufactured by RTX (NYSE: RTX), and related equipment from the U.S. government under a potential $605 million foreign military sale agreement.

Sweden asked to buy 250 AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM systems, six guidance sections, encryption devices, control sections and containers and test set telemetry kits, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Friday.

The sale would include spare parts, classified software delivery and support, publications and technical documentation and engineering and logistics support services.

RTX’s missiles and defense subsidiary will be the principal contractor on the possible FMS transaction.

The Swedish government will use the requested equipment to update the country’s air-to-air defense capabilities and advance its interoperability with U.S. and NATO forces.

In 2022, Raytheon Missiles & Defense was awarded a $972 million contract to supply modernized AMRAAMs to domestic and international military customers.
