Army Taps Knight Construction & Supply for $116M Dam Modernization Project

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded Knight Construction & Supply a $115.6 million contract to perform rehabilitation work at the McNary Lock and Dam in Umatilla, Oregon.

Under the nine-year contract, the company will change the dam’s isolated-phase bus and refurbish intake gates of the barrier, the Department of Defense said Monday.

USACE received three bids for the project and obligated $4.8 million on the award using Bonneville Power Administration funds for fiscal year 2022.

The agency estimates work under the firm-fixed-price contract will be complete by April 30, 2031.

According to a fact sheet, USACE and the Bonneville Power Administration are pursuing modernization efforts to increase the power availability and hydraulic capacity of the 7,365-foot-long concrete structure.
