Joel Machen, formerly vice president of product development for Inmarsat‘s government business arm, has joined SpiderOak Mission Systems to serve as VP of program management for zero trust hybrid space security products.
Dave Pearah, CEO SpiderOak, said in a statement published Thursday Machen will be responsible for supporting delivery of OrbitSecure protocol and software offerings to government and commercial customers.
“Joel will bring valuable expertise in developing and marketing secure-satellite systems to federal and private-sector clients,” he remarked.
At Inmarsat Government, Machen drove the development of terminals, appliances and software for satellite communications in support of its customers.
Machen’s career also includes work at the U.S. Army and Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH), where he led a systems engineering team for satellite software development and a computing center transition project for the Defense Information Systems Agency.
His nine-year tenure at the Army focused on tactical communications and included a task with the White House Communications Agency.
