Cognosante Receives $545M Task Order to Build VA Medical Logistics System; Erick Peters, Philip Dietz Quoted

Cognosante will help the Department of Veterans Affairs develop, implement and maintain a medical logistics system under a potential five-year, $545 million task order.

The company said Tuesday it intends to apply a DevSecOps approach and the Scaled Agile Framework to help establish the VA’s Supply Chain Management Product Line.

Erick Peters, chief technology officer of Cognosante, said the company will work to modernize key business processes at the department using proven technology development methods to support veterans’ service accessibility and delivery.

VA awarded the task order with a one-year base period and four option years via the Transformation Twenty-One Total Technology-Next Generation contract vehicle.

Philip Dietz, general manager of Cognosante’s military and veterans health unit, noted that the project aims to transform VA’s process for moving medical equipment and supplies across its health care network.
