LaPlante has nearly 40 years of experience in the defense industrial base, acquisition, technology and sustainment, the White House said Tuesday.
Prior to Draper, he served as senior vice president for Mitre’s national sector and was responsible for the operations of federally funded research and development centers for DOD and the Department of Commerce.
LaPlante spent three years starting 2014 as assistant secretary of the Air Force for acquisition, technology and logistics, overseeing the service branch’s $43 billion enterprise budget.
He previously served as a commissioner on the Section 809 Panel and as a member of the Defense Science Board and the National Defense Industrial Association’s board.
