Redwire (NYSE: RDW) has purchased microgravity biotechnology developer Techshot in a move to complement the former’s space infrastructure offerings.
Jacksonville, Florida-based Redwire said Tuesday that the transaction was in line with the company’s in-space manufacturing vision in low-Earth orbit.
Headquartered in Floyd County, Indiana, Techshot has a microgravity human tissue fabrication facility that uses 3D technology, an in-orbit X-ray machine and a multipurpose device for space research and manufacturing applications.
Peter Cannito, chairman and CEO of Redwire, said the acquisition marks a “leap forward in our vision for people living and working in space for the benefit of the terrestrial economy.”
