Octo Buys Volant to Accelerate IT Service Delivery in Defense, Intelligence Markets; Mehul Sanghani Quoted

Octo, a Reston, Virginia-based government information technology services provider, has acquired Volant Associates for an undisclosed sum as part of efforts to expand its portfolio of IT offerings for agency clients across the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community.

Volant’s leadership team will stay and oversee a new division within Octo’s IC and Air Force business unit with a continued focus on supporting the Defense Intelligence Agency and the National Reconnaissance Office, Octo said Tuesday.

Octo CEO Mehul Sanghani said that through teaming relationships, the company has witnessed Volant’s technical expertise, its impact on IC customers and efforts to improve the ability of the national security community to accelerate the delivery of tools, data and mission effectiveness to end users.

“We are excited to have formalized the relationship with Volant, which demonstrates our dedication to serving our customers whose missions directly impact our nation,” Sanghani added.

Founded in 2008, Volant Asssociates is a Chantilly, Virginia-based software development company and tech integrator that provides advanced analytics, data sharing and other enterprise IT platforms in support of defense intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions. The company has more than 85 employees with security clearances and holds prime contracts supporting DIA and other agencies across the IC.

“We also recognized that, while Volant brings a unique focus on enterprise-scale tools and services for the Defense ISR and broader IC, the capabilities we have developed have a much larger market and applicability across a range of missions. With Octo’s wider reach, resources, and talent base we expect to be able to grow into those additional markets and expand our own capabilities,” said Volant CEO Eric Mohney.
