Momentus has appointed John Rood, former undersecretary of the Department of Defense for policy, to serve as its CEO starting Aug. 1, ahead of its planned merger with Stable Road Acquisition Corp.
Rood will take over from Dawn Harms, who will return to her duties as chief revenue officer after temporarily holding the top executive position for over seven months, the commercial space company said Wednesday.
The upcoming CEO will bring to Momentus more than two decades of experience performing various leadership roles across the U.S. government, including DOD, State Department, White House National Security Council and CIA.
He also spent several years working in the private sector, including time as vice president of Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) and the former Raytheon company.
“His deep national security experience, proven expertise in business growth and steadfastness in government service are invaluable assets,” said Harms.
The appointment comes after Momentus reached a settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for the merger with SRAC.
