David Constable to Succeed Carlos Hernandez as Fluor CEO in January

David Constable, a board member at Fluor (NYSE: FLR), will succeed the retiring Carlos Hernandez as CEO of the company, effective Jan. 1.

“David brings a unique combination of deep insight to Fluor and an outside perspective from his prior experience as CEO of Sasol,” Alan Boeckmann, executive chairman of the board at Fluor, said in a statement published Monday.

“His successful history of leading integrated global operations with a focus on effective risk management makes him ideally positioned to lead Fluor,” Boeckmann added.

Constable first joined Fluor in 1982 and held senior leadership roles within the company through 2011. He returned to the company in 2019 as a board member and now serves as chair of the commercial strategies and operational risk committee and a member of the executive and governance committees.

He served as president and CEO of Sasol between 2011 and 2016. He sits on the boards of ABB (NYSE: ABB), Rio Tinto plc and Rio Tinto Ltd.
