Lockheed Books $182M Navy Contract Modification for MH-60R Helicopter Sonars

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has received a $181.7M contract modification to provide 39 sonar systems that will be integrated into MH-60R Seahawk maritime helicopters for the U.S. Navy and the governments of India and Denmark.

The modification covers the manufacture, delivery and installation of 24 airborne low-frequency sonars for India, seven ALFS for Denmark and eight of the sonar systems for the Navy, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.

The award modifies a potential $382M contract issued in 2018 for the production of eight MH-60R helicopters for the Navy.

Naval Air Systems Command will obligate $37.3M in fiscal 2018 Navy aircraft procurement funds and $144.5M in foreign military sales funds at the time of the contract modification's award.

Seventy-seven percent of work under the modification will take place in Brest, France, while the remaining 23 percent will occur in Portsmouth, R.I., and Owego, N.Y.

Lockheed is slated to conclude its services by December 2024.
