The Department of Homeland Security has announced plans to acquire commercial technologies and innovative products and services using the Commercial Solutions Opening Pilot Program in support of the COVID-19 pandemic response efforts.
A notice posted Thursday says the department’s office of procurement operations wants to use the CSOP to streamline and expedite the process of acquiring products that could help accelerate screening, expand testing capabilities, supplement emerging needs for personal protective equipment and convert logistics and production operations in support of COVID-19 response efforts.
“An important aspect of this objective is to support the efficient acquisition and testing of innovative commercial products from legitimate suppliers, as well as the efficient production and fielding of the successfully tested innovative commercial products,” DHS said in the notice.
DHS plans to make CSOP awards in fiscal 2020 and will release a general solicitation by Tuesday, April 14.
