Skyview Capital has purchased Fidelis Cybersecurity, an automated threat detection and response technology provider to the government and commercial sectors, for an undisclosed sum.

The Los Angeles-based private equity firm said Wednesday it will continue to explore business opportunities within the information technology security segment.

Fidelis offers technology products designed to automatically detect cyber threats and respond to security incidents. The business also has managed service offerings.

Alex Soltani, chairman and CEO of Skyview, said the investment company has seen an opportunity to build on Fidelis-built technology and help grow the latter's IT security market presence.

"This transaction aligns well with our investment philosophy of targeting and investing in mission critical technology businesses across a wide spectrum of verticals, from telecommunications to cybersecurity," Soltani added.

General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) acquired Fidelis in 2012 and sold the business to Marlin Equity Partners in 2015.
